The ‘Faculté Libre de Médecine’ was founded in 1876, in the catholic university group, in the frame of the Law of July 12th 1875 which instituted the private higher education.

The ‘Faculté Libre de Médecine’ has a restricted intake of 102 students allowed to follow medical studies further to the 1st year, after a competition at the end of the 1st year.

On the basis of official programmes, the ‘Faculté Libre de Médecine’ prepares the students to the doctorate in medicine delivered by the state and to the competitive entry examination for medical specialization internship. The programme of teaching is defined at the national level.
